Multi-species ethnography is a valuable qualitative methodology for revealing the mutual, iterative influences of animals, plants and people on one another, as each responds to environmental change. Through these entanglements, we can track how trajectories of adaptation unfold. This study arose from Gabriele Volpato’s time as a postdoctoral scholar with our NSF-supported project on livelihood adaptation. The work was published in Regional Environmental Change in 2023. Below is a poster summary presented at the Adaptation Futures conference in Montreal Canada in 2023.
