March 2015: Ryan Unks awarded Botany in Action Fellowship

Great news!  Ryan just received a Botany In Action Fellowship, a fellows program sponsored by the Phipps Conservancy and Botanical Garden, Pittsburg, PA. Congratulations!!

As a Fellow, Ryan will receive funding to support his research on sustainable landscapes and ethnobotany in Kenya.  He will also participate in a 4-day workshop at the Phipps Conservancy this Fall, to engage in science outreach training and opportunities to translate and communicate his or her research to non-scientific, public audiences through written, visual, oral and/or multimedia means.

The Botany In Action Fellowship (BIA) program develops new, science-based plant knowledge and chronicles traditional knowledge of plants for use in growing a greener world.  BIA promotes interactive scientific education about the importance of plants, biodiversity, and sustainable landscapes for human well-being.
